Project: Our Nations Sons
Client: Joe Caslin
Hoping to change the view towards young men in the city, a high school art class attempts this by the use of ‘street art’.
The project will begin Saturday 14th April with the pasting of a 40ft drawing to the gable wall of No. 20 Cowgate, Edinburgh. Over the course of the next ten days, five other large-scale drawings will appear in the city. The aim of the project is use these portraits drawings of young men as a tool to provoke and question current social and media representations of this generation. The drawings once installed will generate spaces throughout the city charged for an encounter between the subject/protagonist and the passer-by/interpreter.
Scott Willis was commissioned by illustrator, Joe Caslin to document his street art project ‘Our Nation’s Sons’. The film has been broadcasted on UK television and exhibited at the prestigious Somerset House in London.
